Your body definitely gets acclimated to different climates. I was raised in So Cal but I lived in Hawaii for 5 years in the early 90's. My first winter back in So Cal I never felt so cold in my life. I remember one morning freezing on my way to work, and as I was stopped at a light I look over and there's a High School girl at the bus stop in a tee shirt and her hair was wet like she just took a shower.. Ever since I took up snowboarding I have a new appreciation for cold weather.

Humidity makes a huge difference in how you feel the cold. I tell folks all the time how the coldest I ever felt was Winters in England. Temps in high 20°Fs to low 30°Fs but that damp air soaked into you.

When our son was in school at Fairbanks, we drove up to bring him back home for Christmas once ... just to do one more family road trip. :notsure: Any how, they were having a "warm spell" at -9°F, up from an average -45°F ... kids were outside partying and hanging out in tee-shirts.
Acclimation is a very true reality. Folks at work laugh at me 'cuz I only wear a vest over my flannel shirts with temps down into the +teens. I generally don't start wearing my coat with sleeves until we hit single digit numbers.

Those raw days, with wind and moisture in the air, are the worst.
