Due to Reasons, I'm going to be getting a tacoma to replace my current third gen. One option I'm very interested in is a 2020 TRD Offroad. It's been built like:

    • JD fab 2.25 LT kit (lowers remounted, ucas, limit straps, gusseted spindles, the works)
    • 8" King 2.5
    • King 2.5 air bumps
    • king second dampers
    • 934 CVs
    • double sheer uca mounts and steering
    • brake lines, limit straps, etc.
    • JD fab inner fenders
    • The rear was done up with 12" king smoothies, deaver leafs, archive garage relocation towers, u bolt flip kit, and a BAMF rear hanger + shackles.
What I'm looking for is advice on what to inspect when I go check out the truck. I had all intention of eventually going long travel on my tacoma, so now that I'm forced to sell back and get a new tacoma, I'm entertaining buying one that's already done.

I assume I'll need to pay extra attention to ball joints, corrosion, and weld quality on all of the components that have been installed. I'm under no illusion that this truck will be a street queen, I know I'm getting into some squeaks, bumps, clunks, and other quirks.

But overall, if you found yourself possibly buying a LT taco, what would you inspect?

Put it on a lift, check to see if there’s any binding. Check limit straps. Turn wheels both sides see if the tie rods or heim rods rub up against the coils. Listen for squeaks. If it’s in good shape the owner should be greasing up the joints where they can. Other than that, good luck and enjoy your new ride.
