Im averse to major damage yes. I’d be going next summer, probably in august or September.

I’d probably be going solo also yea.

Hmmm I'll be curious to hear the story. My money is on the red truck needing the alternator.

Random: I know there are a few Linux heads in here…is it easy to re-install Windows if you choose to after doing a Linux install? I’ve only ever run Linux on my Macs after they aged out and going back is simple/familiar…new to trying non Mac hardware. It’s a Thinkpad, Win 10 came stock so I know (well, I think) the activation key is tied to the BIOS.

I guess the other option is pull the HDD caddy and do it on a separate drive if that’s easier)

The product key should either be tied the bios or there should be a partition on the hard drive with the win 10 iso. You could probably also download the iso from ibms website.
I installed chrome os flex on a gateway and then decided to go back to Windows and had no issues with it.

Also there may be a sticker on the bottom of laptop with the product key on it.

Ok cool thanks. I figured it shouldn’t be too much of a headache, just never done it (well, recently anyway, maybe like 1999 haha). Just not loving Windows so going to put MX on it and see how it goes.

Warn parts aren't cheap. I've come across M8000s and XD9000s on CL/Marketplace missing the contactor pack/control box thing, cable, and the controller. And they'll still be listed for $250-$500.
