More wire wheeling, I sprayed a phosphoric acid product called ospho to convert rust into iron phosphate and turns it black. This weekend I will spray it with a 2 part epoxy primer from Spray Maxx. 20221103_122034.jpg 20221103_122355.jpg

I remember reading about someone who tried to mount a FJ transfer case to a V8 lexus and seems like the splines were wrong or something and they said it wouldn't work. I think it was rocksolidtoys in anaheim, but could have been another site. Rocksolidtoys is no longer around so I guess that info is lost now if it was them..

Do you remember if it was a GX 460 or 470?

Thats a good question. Could have been the 470. I was seriously considering a 470 build at one point so that may have been it.

Spray Max 3680033 2 part epoxy primer in a can works great. I made sure to degrease very well. I used 3M undercoating and eastwood's interal frame coating kit. I will post pics of that tomorrow.20221105_151051.jpg 20221105_151122.jpg 20221105_151141.jpg

Far from it, at this point it is more about damage control.

Heres what the 3m undercoating turned out like, not perfect but good enough. Also I was really impressed with Eastwood's internal frame coating kit.20221106_083427.jpg 20221106_083334.jpg 20221106_083322.jpg

The paint is not very viscous and the plastic straw with the nozzle on the end shoots in every direction. It got the job done.

The handwriting has been on the wall. You can see, and now measure how there is really something special happening here.

Yes, @dpanibratets is demonstrating an experienced, well thought out, and highly integrated plan. What really makes any plan work though is the response to the things, both large and small, that you know you are going to face but you can't easily "frame and anticipate" by task. These are the things you have no choice but to assess, respond, and innovate. The in-process frame, engine-compartment, cab wiring, and the Tacoma's overall electromechanical reassembly (of especially the Tacoma cab) are turning out to be perfect examples. Outrageous execution. Amazing work

Having just recently sold my Tacoma and now into a GX, this build makes perfect sense. Excellent job thus far.

Alright guys, I went to put in the power steering rack this morning and found out that the 14mm bolts from the GX do not fit into the tacoma holes. I didn't measure what size bolt the tacoma uses but it appears to be a 12mm. I am going to drill the holes out to 14mm so no big deal. The front diff bolted right in, I am also using a diff drop kit. Big morale boost to finally start bolting parts back in the engine bay. 20221107_122305.jpg

Where are the new engine mount perches on the Taco frame?

Not there yet. To get the proper location and angle relative to each other I plan on bolting the perches to the engine, lowering it in the bay, tacking the perches in place, unbolting the engine, remove engine and then welding them in.
