2005 toyota tacoma is leaking this red liquid. I'm pretty sure it's coolant. Unfortunately, it wasnt noticed until yesterday so it looks pretty bad. Can anybody tell me what parts I need to fix it, and how to fix it? It's an active leak (leaking while turned off)

I’d start by looking for the high point where you see wet coolant. Use your phone and take a video if you can’t see just by looking at it.

In your second photo, the hose in the upper center appears to be wet and possibly cracked. Keep looking up from there until you locate the source of the leak.

Looks like the coolant bypass pipe, factory one is plastic the updated one is metal.

I just replaced my plastic coolant bypass pipe 2 weeks ago with the metal one, I looked up the videos and it seemed beyond my capabilities (or what I was willing to attempt anyway) I had an independent toyota shop here in socal do it for $340 (I supplied to oem metal pipe and gasket)

I wouldn't drive or run that motor until you replace the pipe. The sensor for your coolant temp is on top so if you have no coolant it will just read the "air" and you won't see the needle on your dash go up but your motor will overheat and seize

Like @whatstcp said, no real need to clean it off until you replace the parts.
Not unless you just have to clean it off for some reason?
If so, a rag and nylon/brass scrub brush. Toyota coolant likes to dry crusty.
You usually need more than just a rag.

Once the parts are off, I use a gasket scraper or razor blade, along with scrub pads and a rag.
The cleaner the surface the less chance of a leak.

I'm in the process of getting parts together for the dreaded coolant bypass pipe replacement. Has anyone that has done this procedure also replaced the intake manifold gasket and the TB gasket? I think the TB gasket is a one time use type. Don't know about the intake manifold gasket. Also, what are the torque specs for the metal coolant bypass pipe. I assume they may be different than the plastic bypass pipe.

Where did you find the information that there is an updated pipe that is metal?
