Anyone have any issues with CarPlay on a 2020? Mine disconnects randomly and will cause the Bluetooth to drop also. Sometimes it comes back, other it won’t til I restart the truck. Most of the time it requires a truck restart. I’ve updated he headunit, but the dealer wants $90 to check for software updates. Seems excessive. I have changed cables, phones, everything. No resolution yet.

Just wondering if anyone has any info a possible TSB or known fix for CarPlay intermittent drops. Thanks.

Everyone with every car ALWAYS has issues with CarPlay. It’s designed for irritation.

Mostly it’s all phone based, system updates keep CarPlay up to date. But updates to the head unit are downloaded from Toyota and updated via USB.

Are you using a genuine apple lightning cable? One of these days I will try one in lieu of my aftermarket cable, thinking that might help with intermittent issues.

You don't have to restart the truck, how the power button down until the head unit restarts.

It is likely a cable issue. Use not just a different cable but a short high quality cable. Also ensure that it can't be bumped or knocked around, or that the hanging cord isn't flopping around and putting stress on the port.

My carplay (audio) will usually hang once and only once, usually shortly after beginning on any journey.

Do you lose maps or any connectivity at the same time?

It’s a complete loss of CarPlay, the headunit goes back to the Toyota audio/nav default screen. I’ll see if I have any shorter cables laying around, but the one I’m using is a standard 2 or 3 footer. Right now I’m using an anker, my original apple cable is usb c, and unfortunately Toyota is not up to the times there.
