i was adjusting my clutch pedal last weekend, and came across this mysterious lil fella. any ideas what the hell is going on here?? the switch so perfectly fits through the hole. the only thing i can think of is that the hole originally had something mounted to it which would contact the switch, but it's no longer there for some reason. if not, this seems entirely pointless. would love to figure out what this is and how its supposed to work. any wisdom would be appreciated! clutch 1.jpg clutch 2.jpg

That should be your clutch pedal position switch. When the clutch is in its upright position it should contact a plunger style switch. It lets the truck know if the pedal is in its upright position or depressed. For starting the truck and cancelling cruise control, etc.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The clutch safety switch for starting is a separate switch from the cruise control switch.

Does the Truck have cruise control? Maybe it was removed.

that's right. nothing lines up. i wonder if there was a machine screw that used to run through that hole to activate the switch, but was removed for some reason....just like the other switch that is activated when the pedal is in the lowered position.

Does the wiring to it look factory? Maybe some added it as a theft deterrent. Have to reach under to push it in for starter to crank kind of thing.

Mine was missing this as well which kept my cruise control from working. It should've had a simple flat stopper on it like the lower switch does. I noticed my lower stopper is a very brittle piece of plastic so it likely just fell out at some point.

I wanna say it’s just a little plastic pad that goes in there

thanks to everyone for the responses. i haven't run the cruise control before, but agree that has to be what it serves. that makes a lot of sense. so i'm just going to put a stopper back in and go cruise. i've found a bunch of weird aftermarket wiring under there. i assume somebody removed it for some reason, and just forgot to put it back.

I replaced mine with a little screw and washer that pushes against the switch and it works that way.
