I got a replacement transfer case and it has what seems to be an electronic shift on it but I'm not sure. The T case i took off has all the mounts for it but obviously isn't on there, and the hole for the shaft was molded shut when it was made. If anyone could let me know what it is, that would be great!

Yep. Known in the Factory Service Manual as the “2-4 Select” style transfer case.

What do the four positions on the shift do then? High and low?

The one with the actustor should only move forward to back. A button on the knob engages 4x4, the lever moves between hi - neutral - low.
The one you took out should have a j pattern shift. Hence the term j shift

I see, so i could use this T case in my truck. I just need some electronics suited for it?

the J shift uses a proper 4x4 computer. harness for the engine is different as well for the actuator bits on the transfercase. the J shift uses a transmission relay setup.
basically to make it work theres a fair bit of wiring involved.
