Best wheel width for 285/70 R17 ?

Hello to all and thanks in advance!
I’m looking to add a 3 1/2 lift to my 2022 TRD Off Road and run 285 tires. A daily driver with minimal off roading. I’m reading that 7 1/2 to 9 wheels work well and just looking for advice for my application.

That's right, typically you want to be in that range, the wider you go the more the sidewall has to compensate for the width, and the more narrow you go you get poor tread contact.

I personally like 8 for 285's, but if you go 9 you can switch up to the big boy sizes later. But you can't go to 265 ever again.

3 1/2" lifts don't really exist for a reason, you'd be maxing out the suspension and it would ride like ass. 3 is max, 2.5 is suggested max. (unless its a 2WD model, then its 4" max)

Tacoma’s are new to me, I have been building 69-72 Blazers for years but ignorant to this. So, basically I’m wanting to run 285’s on a 17in wheel without modifications if I can. So any help with lifts that would work would be great!
