This is 12k lbs in material, trailer is 4600 empty. Shocking right? I’m pretty much maxed out on my truck and trailer combo. Trailer has 8k rated axles.

I use this combo for tractors too. Luckily, this is the lightest load that ever goes on my 24’ trailer.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
That is a nice setup. Material can be a real pain to try and figure as moisture content causes it to vary so much. Plus people can't understand that.

Thank you. All my boys call it “the Moby Dick.” Can you believe that?

You are so correct. Very hard to estimate weight. The only way I have kinda measured it without a scale:

    - I put 3000 lbs of weight in the bed and took a mental note at what weight (approx) the overload springs came into play. That was around 2950 lbs. 2800 it was getting close. At 3525 lbs I start sagging a little (3/4”) and need to stop to stay within my tire load range which is 7050 lbs on the rear axle.

This is maxed out. This was on a snow run with some of the fellas from TW in Buena Vista. On the way back, the crawlers were as far back as possible and it towed a lot better.

My buddy with the crawler on the back pulls his with a Chevy 5.3 and does pretty well. I would like to take the 5.3 in my garage, cam/intake/heads/exhaust and toss it in is 2015.

Anyone have experience with the 6spd auto in the Ford Super Duties?

I forgot the 10spd is an option.

    I like my ‘17 GMC 2500hd, but 12 mpg, but it’ll tow 14 K pounds…… it’s comfortable and cool.

    Early or late 90s?

I like the early 90s Dodge but I guess they were not the best, I've seen some rusted ones.

I dont see much difference going into a 1500 from a Tacoma. Parked side by side to a stock 1/2 ton I don't think I'd gain much. I do like the Ford F150 with the 2.7.......my 2nd choice until my 2022 TRD OR showed up. I'll take Toyota resale and reliability all day unless I had to tow 10k lbs consistently.

All depends on what you need everyone is different. I don’t have kids so the backseat of a Tacoma is big enough for anything I’ll need. My utility trailer is at most 3,500 lbs loaded. And of course the Taco will always be the only available 3 pedal truck on the market.

I owned a 3.0 Silverado diesel that killed the mpg (averaged over 26mpg with almost 500 lb-ft torque yummy). Diesel prices makes it not as good though unless you risk running off-road in it. Had a F-150 Tremor (2021) and it was amazing just too big for what I needed. The backseat is more suitable for a family. I can see how anyone with kids would opt for a full size.
