Is there a sticky for the ? of these engines with a ticking?? My truck has 23 K on it, have changed the oil ever 5 K since new. Warranty will b up soon and wondering if it’s worth saying anything to dealer about it. I’ve looked other places online with some stating dealer says “it’s normal” . Any experience or information appreciated! Thank you

No sticky and considered normal. My wife loves the noise because of the high pressure DI fuel pump. The noise sounds like a little diesel engine at times giving her an enhanced truck driving sensation. The noise is not constant but variable depending on what the engine is calling for. See more details about the 2GR-FKS on the TCCN YT Chanel. Video here.

Those 5k oil changes will bite you in the a** every time. Some of these trucks are just noisier than others. I've heard a few now and its normal.

    few things here and there.
Ticking is just something to expect from these motors.

Have a video of your exact concern?

Yes, the 3.5 sounds like a piece of junk when it's idling....some are louder than others.

This truck is both the most expensive and noisiest vehicle I have ever owned, including the $100 dollar wonders of my youth...

I tell people it is a prototype diesel model. :notsure:

Could it be a couple of cartoon characters hanging out in the engine bay?

Are you referring to the noise from the D-4S self-cleaning system?

Sounds like all direct injection to me. Thank the EPA. My ford with a coyote had piston slap for the first 15 minutes daily. Now that sounded like a PoS. Totally normal in that engine line too, and it was loud enough to hear clearly 15+ feet away. Caused exactly zero issues though. Modern engines are modern I guess.

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
Sorta off topic but related to noises. Yesterday out of no where while my truck had been off for quite a few hours…the fuel pump just kicks on…kept going for a solid 2 minutes until I decided to start the truck let er run for a bit then kill it. Didn’t happen again…

That’s emissions related. It’s actually an air pump.
