    Hello everyone
My first post here and with a new 2023 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Sport.
I was in hopes of a new Dodge Ram 3500 but at 80k that is a bit to much
But I am loving my new Tacoma but i was under the impression that this Tacoma
would have Map navigation in it with the map button right there on the radio.
but it does not have maps or navigation it says this app is not installed.
So after installing the Toyota app on two different phones and Toyotas map app
it will not install on my tacoma!
went back to the dealer where i bought it just to be told i can not install the map app or navigation into my new tacoma!
My wife's new Nissan rouge came pre-installed with all this stuff so is Toyota sluffing off or being cheap??
Yes I did all the connection and Bluetooth stuff and my Geek son that build hi tech Gaming pc's could not even get nothing to install!!!
So with all that said, what is the biggest or longest travel trailer can a tacoma tow?
i know it says something like 6500lbs towing capacity but i was wondering if a 28 foot travel trailer at 7000gvw if I did not load it up to much? the unloaded wieght of the trailer is like 4800lbs

Anyway Happy Roads to you all

    Bill

Welcome to TW! Thats not going to be a fun time pulling that trailer. Technically its within limits but travel trailers pull the worst. Even if you don't load it heavy you're going to be pushing the realistic limits. Not to mention the hit your payload is going to take along with camping gear and the people riding in the cab your payload will most likely be exceeded. It seems like you may have bought before doing enough research. I would have gone with at least a 1500 truck for that trailer to pull it comfortably

I did do my research, I just found a trailer at a good buy that is fairly new at 2017 and for people just me and my wife but mostly me.
that is when i go fly fishing or fishing period, my wife wont go when i go fishing as for gear not much to load fishing gear does not weigh that much. i could look for something smaller but was just curious what if anyone here had pulled a big trailer?
Does not hurt to ask, my son works in a shop that does hitches and air bag systems for towing.
later down the road i will get a 3/4 or 1 ton truck

    Thanks for the advise

    Welcome!

I have a 2021 Sport and the AppleCarPlay will work if you hard-wire (connect your phone to the USB on the center console).

If you have Android, that should work the same.

Once your phone is recognized, push the map button on the console screen and your GPS should engage.

As for the towing, some TW members have pushed the limits to 6500lbs.

Most limit towing to 4K (or somewhere thereabouts) comfortably...but I have not tried towing anything.

I do not know if this is correct but it says the cargo capacity is Tacoma TRD Sport payload capacity – 1,525 pounds

The dodge ram 1500 is The max 4×4 payload capacity is 1,940 pounds, and you'll get that with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 eTorque again with a quad cab and a 6'4' bed.

about 400 pounds difference which i think is not bad of a difference if push comes to shove i can always leave the wife at home :)
but will have to take the dog !!

My son had a 95 toyota pickup with a v6 i rebuilt that motor with a new clutch and all that good stuff and that truck would haul and pull everything, even my trailer with a mid size tractor with the loader and tiller on it i would not think the tacoma would go down in payload in the newer modals of today.
was thinking of the tundra but i just love the looks of the tacoma !!!!
