That fuse is necessary to flash. Without it, the flash will fail. It's obviously not the cause of your first issue, BSOD, though.

See the post above from @ktbell444 . This is a known issue with the S/Cs.

He can use the gray one, but he'll have to Zendesk Mat/VF to let him know about the different serial number

Yup, known issue/circumstance with the 3GT Magnuson SC kits. Which is why our tune guide supplement documents were updated to note this for YotaWerx supercharger tune customers after someone encountered it and brought it up, it's really important info because if you pull that fuse, you're pretty much dead in the water until you figure out why you can't flash.

For future flashes, I recommend that you just hook up to a battery tender of some sort if your battery voltage is a bit low. The pump kicking on represents a fairly decent voltage draw and you don't want voltage dropping mid flash and bricking you [again]. The Noco GB40 is great, the Genius 10 even more so since it can provide a steady supply, but even jumper cables to another vehicle will do the trick.

Luckily, VFTuner is capable of recovering Techstream ECU brickings. Techstream itself actually has a recovery mode/feature, but I've never seen it actually work, so that's a moot point I guess.

Sorry if any of this was already covered or something, was just quickly skimming the comments this morning to catch up, probably missed something somewhere.

Depends on what tools you have available to you.

Toyota Techstream can identify the ECU ID, as can VFTuner. In the event that you do not have either, most OBD code reader devices can identify ECU info as well. For instance, both my Foxwell NT301 and OBDLink MX+ can (so presumably OBD Fusion can as well since they're basically the same platform with difference in feature levels)

If you have applied a Toyota Techstream ECU ID update via TSB, you cannot return to the previous ECU ID (pre-update).

thanks, i'll try to see what i got. the TSB applicable to my truck says it's for crawl control functionality but my SR doesn't have crawl control so not sure if the TSB will help my shifting at all.

If you are talking about the ECU Update, you cannot. It is a one time deal.

If you are taking about tuning, please see the links in the posts above. Again, this is not a tuning thread:

There was only one TSB for the 2.7l, as far as I know. It is linked in the 1st Post of the 2.7l Tuning thread and was for 3rd Gear Shift Flare.

I had a tender on it the entire time, the extra draw itself makes sense. What doesn't make sense to me is why it was so inconsistent on the conditions it would actually flash.

That is a bummer of a process but definitely good job troubleshooting like others mentioned. I will add the only times I’ve gotten a network error is when I’m connected to wifi with TS.

Anywho, I always run stuff for a few weeks myself before offering it to clients and I can say without a doubt the OTT FI tune is incredible. Exactly how I wanted my truck to drive since I got it. The dyno speaks for itself but drivability wise it’s pretty incredible. Just added it to my website if you’d like to book too.
