I considered the oztent rv-1 for a bit but I didn't really like the setup of it. If it were more than just me camping I'd consider the bigger oztents but if I'm being honest I'd probably go to a wedge rtt. Oztents are rad though

They are. Some company started making a knock off of them as well. It was just a bit awkward to strap down on the bed rack sold it to a guy with a 4R where that full length roof rack made tying down much easier. Since I don't leave the tent on 24/7 the RTT just became too cumbersome. After going springbar style I'm sold on them. Stores away nice and opens up to have enough room for me, the GF, the dog, and even table and chairs.

Solo trips, I have a kit that fits entirely in the back seat.

Other than pack size was it a good tent? I'm putting it on my racks so size doesnt really matter because itll be up out of the way

I have the mountain hatch double swag that I use mostly for the beach. The winds here are consistently high, and in my experience the more typical dome tents don't cut it. I had a similar swag type tent growing up and was considering importing one from Australia before I found this. I was a tad nervous b/c I think I was part of the first batch last summer. The mattress is great, the durability has been great, and the ease of setup / packing in bad (or good) conditions is awesome. Obviously you'd need something different for backpacking/hiking, but strap this on the rack with the boards or on top of the cooler and you're set.

I noticed it's a very new product and there arent many reviews out there, which has me skeptical, I think a swag tent would just be the best fit because I dont want a big oversized tent that can get annoying setting up and taking down. Thanks for the info tho!

Yeah it was good. You need to be careful with it as the hinges are plastic. If you're looking for a solo style tent, the smaller one would pack down better as well.

I have used this for a few years with great comfort. It gets you off the ground, too. Don't know if you have seen this, or are set on the swag tent.

Forget a one person tent , you’ll be unhappy with it. One person tents are great for back packing but that’s it. You’ll end up wanting more room. And the price around $400 is a rip. You say you are interested in a small tent because a bigger one is tough to put up. That is not so. You need to look at instant up tents. They go up and come down in a minute or less. Easy peasy. Good solid tents at about a quarter of the price of the solo swag tent you refer to.There’s a dozen different brands such as Moon Lence, Coleman, Hewolf and many many more. Check some of these out, I think you’ll like them. One I like is the Hewolf. Here’s a pic.,
Occupancy 2 adult and 1 child
    Design Camping Tent
    Brand Hewolf
    Seasons 3-season tents
Special Feature Quick, Automatic tent, Instant up, Quick pitch, Easy pitch, Easy setup, UVProtection, Rainproof, Fastest tent easy up.

Thanks for the write up and all the input. I should have added, I have a proper 4 person 4 season tent in my garage but it's so bulky and unnecessary when it's just me going out. I'm also adding a awning with room to the truck this weekend so closed in space I don't think will be an issue. The only reason I was looking at the swag tents was because of the small space and little footprint they would leave on a campsite if I have the awning and room set up plus down the road I want to add another awning onto my roof for just coverage no room. I will eventually be upgrading my 4 person tent because it's getting a little old, so I will for sure check out these "easy pitch ", ice never heard of them before.

I'm just gonna throw this out there again. This thing, with two telescoping poles or hiking poles, a handful of stakes, and an inflatable matress. All for about half of the cost of the swag in question. 20210614_125845.jpg

Its definitely a cool thing and has its pros, but I'm not backpacking so something that small isnt a necessity, and it doesnt have the matress.

Ive got a double swag and have used it once. I really like the ease of setup. I can be torn down and ready to go in less than 5 min.

I realize this post old. I camped 50 nights in the mountain hatch swag in summer of 2021. I love it and my dog loves it. I had an Escapod teardrop on order and used this in the meantime. I camped 59 nights in my teardrop this year and use the swag every weekend as a relaxation chamber.
