My season has sucked so far; I'm thankful to get alot of time to hunt, but most of that time was spent picking my nose.
It's been mid 70's - low 80's for several days, I've seen a handful of small bucks and (oddly) very few does at all. The temps drop tomorrow....I go back to work tomorrow. :pout: I'll chalk that up to piss poor scheduling on my part.
Anyhow, after I put in my 3 days, I'm off for 16.....I'll keep my fingers crossed.:fingerscrossed:
Best of luck to all of you!!

Oh...I've seen 2 coyotes and 2 bobcats while hunting, I love seeing other predators in the woods!!

So when I was up in Buffalo I only saw two does the entire time. Saw a dozen or more bucks

checked the weather for back home in Texas and I think that it’s gonna be prime. Let’s see if I can seal the deal with my bow. Bringing the rifle just as backup

Ya. It was the last Saturday for archery in most of the state. Last day is this coming Friday, the 18th. Special regs near Pittsburgh and Filthadelphia it continues until the end of January IIRC.

I like euro's. Alot. A deer or elk would have to score very high for me to get another shoulder mount. Just love the simple elegance of a euro mount.

Went out today and getting everything ready at set up. Cranking my Ravin R15 crossbow and just about at full cock when it locks in place - WHAM!!!! It dry fired as the cocking strap either totally ripped or broke!!! A piece of the firing system broke off, but I found it. MAYBE have shot a total of 2 dozen bolts over 4-5 years of ownership.....Ravin has a 5 year warranty and I have been listening to FUCKING elevator music while on hold for 1 hour 38 minutes so far!!!! Don't want to hang up and try again and this hold time is really pissing me off!!!! $1500 bow and minimal use/wear and tear and I think I am going to get totally screwed - IF they ever answer the freakin' phone!! Sent them an email too about a half hour ago, as their hold message suggest that as "all their representatives are busy assisting other customers". It is hunting season, hire more people!!!!

A good friend killed his buck (and a doe) the other day and offered me the use of his crossbow, but I am too pissed/frustrated to even consider going out again until gun season.

SORRY for the long winded rant, but customer "service" seems to be a lost art anymore.

Just got an email response and the most local archery shop to me (I was going to call anyway after talking to Ravin) is listed as a repair shop, so soon as I get through to Ravin or another 15 minutes of hold time (would be 2 HOURS on hold), I will be calling Joe - short drive but likely too busy to help now....we will see!!!

I feel your pain, here’s my Ravin story. Two weeks ago tomorrow, I was un-cocking my Ravin R9 and 2 turns in the crank handle came loose from the bow and dry fired. Took it to bow shop the next morning and was told because of damaged components it would need to be sent in to factory for repair. Now the rut was just around the corner and I’m not waiting 4-5 weeks to get my bow back so I bought a new R10, $1400 out the door. Then last Monday morning just my 5th hunt with new bow I was cocking it and At almost full draw the strap between the crank and the retractor broke. I’m kinda pissed now!! So I take it back to bow shop and say WTF am I supposed to do now. Shop owner says he has older R10 in back room he’s going to rebuild for himself, says he’ll get it rebuilt and let me use it till mine get back from factory, I now have 2 going back to factory. Meanwhile I start researching Ravin crossbows and what a shit show, many, many issues and problems. Now I go to another bow shop in town and buy a new Ten Point Titan with the de-cocking system about $1450 out the door. I did kill my buck with the borrowed, rebuilt R10 and will continue using it until mine come back. When I get them back I will sell the new R10 for whatever I can get out of it, I will keep the R9 for a backup and start using my new Ten Point as my primary bow. Good luck!!
