I have Dash Cam footage that I need to edit the non relevant parts out. I just figured out moments ago that my Windows 7 machine no longer supports Windows Movie Make, which has been the go to... That's right, I'm still rocking the Windows7 :headbang:

    What are the recommendations?

This is what it looks like when another Tacoma tries to rub its front bumper on my 35" tire

Agreed with Devinchi, or depending on the file size, they have lots of video trimmers online like adobe's https://express.adobe.com/tools/trim-video

If you don't want to download, install and learn a new program

I used this free video editor a couple of years ago:

    https://www.openshot.org/

I only used it to make a quick slideshow with background music, so I don't know how well this video editor really is.

    Davinci resolve is free.
Then export the file to Adobe After Effects. Add some explosions and a rumble effect.

I'm not saying you should do this but you can easily crack Sony Vegas Pro 15. It has a steep learning curve though

Davinci and Canva are both good options. I know there are good free online sites, but I have never used them. I am fortunate that I have full Adobe CC.

Not to come off sounding like a d-bag,but a steep learning curve means something is easy to learn.

If you want free and simple to chop some dashcam clips together try Movavi. Seems like lots of people using it for lightweight projects like this.

As others mentioned for more involved editing use DaVinci Resolve free version. Somewhat difficult to learn but much more powerful. Just depends how deep you want to go.

Depends on perspective. Let’s say you’re in a Tacoma climbing a hill - what’s more difficult, the red hill or the blue hill? In that case the X axis is degree of incline and Y axis is Difficulty.
That’s the frame of reference I think people use when they say steep learning curve - a “steep hill to climb”.

Or just put time on the Y axis and learning on the X axis.

True, people may use it that way, but it's incorrect.
As a rule, and especially in physics, time (t) is always on the X-axis.

The perspective I gave is how most people use the term “steep learning curve” and there’s nothing incorrect about it.
The first example I gave didn’t even have time as a plotted value.
The second example I gave using time,
well it’s incorrect to say time is “always” on the X axis. While that is standard convention that’s all it is, a convention, and people sometimes DO put time on the Y axis when it’s desirable to. Google it. The person who created the chart I included did exactly that and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s not a violation of physics to do so lol.

Bonus: Here’s a typical fuse chart we use for fuse and beaker coordination, provided my the manufacturers. thousands just like this all with time on the Y axis. It’s the “convention” for these charts.0DE38F23-879D-4A6D-95AA-140033E4C96A.jpg

I use https://www.movavi.com/, which has a pretty straightforward interface, handy if you're just starting out or prefer things less complex.
I found the video stabilization feature on Movavi quite effective for any bumpy dash cam footage.
