A long time friend of mine up in the High Desert of Socal switched over to Solar panels a few months ago after getting tired of $600 plus electric bills during the summer months . He found out during the pre inspection of this change over that part of his roof and quite a few roof trusses weren't able to support the additional weight

That's alot of $$$$ just to change over to solar

 

It is. The savings offsets the cost and I am financing it at .99% over 20 years.

It's a break-even situation that I didn't feel was worth the cost.


But my wife wanted it.

 

And the power is back on

 

With the hotter, longer summers our electricity bills have climbed to the point where solar here can pay for itself in 5 1/2 years. As soon as we get some other things fixed, a new roof goes on and the panels go up.

 

Yes it pays for itself. Except solar companies charge outrageous amounts for install so you pay for that over 20 years.

 

Yup, power wall was quoted at $15k for me, and the company I used actually advised against it, and said two other options would be better right now. 1 wait for solid state batteries to get to market, and 2 get a nice auto generator installed for probably less money.
No further progress today due to the rain, but they’ll be back tomorrow and plan to start getting tiles up and finish the rails. Electrician was here yesterday, got some of the wiring done, but was kinda slow going for him, as part of the run really needed a two person push/pull, and he was alone (I offered to help, but he never came in to ask me to go out).
Can’t wait till I’m online with this, with NH electric rates up around $.22/kwh. They are double what they were 6 months ago.

Till 0100 it was fine!! Then my old dumb arse had to get up and wait till the hold was released on the launch at like 0145!! Joyce wanted me to get her up and see the launch... It was pretty like the sun came up... Loud too, it rolled across from the east sounding like a fighter was coming.. It was more light than the shuttles used to be, louder and brighter than the AtlasV too... Forgot to the take the phone out with me to get pics..

It would have been spectacular pics if I hadn't forgotten the damn phone.. I don't even go out and look anymore I'm so used to the tons-o-launchs these days.. It is nice seeing it fly and not be setting on the pad < than30 miles from the house fully loaded with rocket fuel!!
