    Pick yourself up some inexpensive or steel wheels and have the snows mounted and balanced on them. That will save from annual dismount and mounting costs. You will also be able to jack up truck and put them on whenever you want instead of having to depend on the repair shop to do it...

    Don't buy used snow unless they are like new. Look for dry rot . Go to the tire manufacturers website and see what the tread depth was when new. Get a tread depth gage so you don't have to guess, you can measure accurately... (They are inexpensive)

    Learn to read the sidewall. Be aware of the date code before buying...
