Yes, this is one of the reasons I do not live or would ever move to the midwest. I prefer to drive on untreated roads, my tires and truck is design for that, up to a certain snow accumulation of course. In Utah, through state highways, interstates and city roads are treated when it snows. I still wash underneath after driving on treated roadways. Of course it has to be above 32. But National Forest or BLM area roads are not so if the snow is not so deep or fresh new snow is great for driving with these Falken Wild Peak AT3 tires.

When I was rebuilding my S10 I watched several repair videos on youtube and many were from the Southwest. I was amazed seeing 15-20 year old S10's and blazers, sonoma's etc with 100% zero rust on them. It is night and day difference from here man.

It helps some with condensation. Winter here is a series of cold as hell weeks with days of thawing in between.

Best place is online for it. Cosmoline RP-342. Either ebay or direct....all comes down to the shipping cost for best price.

I buy the rattlecans from Amazon. If you want the bulk can, buy from Cosmoline Direct. They even have a thinned version for use with garden sprayers with viton seals.

With rattlecans you can also buy CRC 06026 or 76026 from many industrial supply stores, Napa, Amazon, or marine supply stores.

Seeing that you make me wish i kept my 66 389 tri power goat. I later dumped in a super duty nascar 421 with dual 500 carbs. That car was a beast.

What is your winter vehicle? What was the point of a truck then?

This is similar to not wearing a new pair of underwear just in case you have to shit... Break out those old panties, boys. The ones that already have holes and stains.

That's what car washes are for. Wash it when it's over 49F or 5C. Go to a do it yourself hand wash place and wash the the outside and rinse undercarriage and wheel wells while you're at it. I live in nasty cold Alberta Canada and have never had rust on or in any vehicle in 50 years !

It's crazy how many people are paying absolutely no attention these days, isn't it??

The small group I ride with has lost a couple older members the past few years, so not doing any longer trips out west anymore. After riding out in SD, WY, MT and ID, riding around my local area just doesn't inspire me anymore. The upkeep and maintenance have made the juice not worth the squeeze to me anymore. Looking forward to spending some time off road with the Taco though!!

Some don't use a large, heavy, hunk of steel for daily driving and only have those for when towing or hauling is needed. That is why my 2019 has only just over 18k miles on the odometer.

I wouldn’t spend $40K-$50K on a truck and hide it for the winter unless I could afford to buy and garage multiple trucks. That said, I did inherit an old Subaru. I’ll likely use it in town on snowy days until it dies and delay the salt exposure on the new Taco for a little while.

    I don’t.

I bought a Tacoma to use and abuse it. When this truck is all used up I’ll probably turn it into a truggy and buy a new Tacoma and build it out too.

I take care of it though. I clean the salt off frequently. The car washes stay open here.
