    I have a 2022 tacoma with 5,000 miles on it and decided to check rear differential oil.Dang it was about a quart low!Problem is I used just regular 90W gear oil 5GL?Did I screw up by not using synthetic oil???I looked in owners manual and it does not specify using synthetic oil.

    Ok thanks,thought i had really @##$%^ up!I had first oil change at 3,000 miles and I guess those pecker heads don't even check this!I will tell them about it next time it is serviced!

    The dealer will never check the driveline fluids unless you pay them, even for the PDI.


    The factory likely fill a metered amount. A dry axle will now get lube in places that it will stick to, like the housing, diff, and driveline. That can easily account for a drop in level. 1qt low in the rear is no big deal.

    I would just drain and refill it with 1 single brand. Amsoil severe gear comes in squeeze packs making it super easy.
