If I was getting an Amish shed I would want it raised like an Amish barn raising

 

Normally they are sold by an English or Mennonite shed place that will advertise Amish built sheds.

 

You’d be surprised what some Amish have. They have a business to run and they appreciate the almighty $ just like everyone else.

Maybe I haven’t had enough caffeine, but the purpose of the attic vent (in the roof) is to release any moisture build up in the attic. Mine is very dry. Then the attic itself has insulation to prevent heat transfer from the house to the attic. Why would any of this create heat or moisture in the attic? Just my two cents, but the code seems right to me. Maybe it’s a PNW thing?

 

From my research the biggest issue with attic moisture is envelope tightness. If there is any air gap in the ceiling around light fixtures or anything else it's going to vacuum the hotter humidified air up into the attic.

With the temperature differential you'll end up with condensation building between the air leak and insulation eventually saturating it.

The vapour / air barrier stops air movement between the conditioned and unconditioned spaces . If there is no barrier you are leaking the humid / heated air from inside your house to the outside

Batt insulation does zero to stop air movement . Ever done a renovation and found all the batts are black or dirty around all the plugs , switches or pot lights? Thats from air movement drawing air in to the house when it is under negative pressure like when you have a range hood or bath fan on , you are essentially filtering your inside air that you are breathing through the batt insulation.

Attic vents are intended to vent moisture from a vented roof system out of the the attic which is true but you want to limit the contribution to that from the conditioned space as much as possible otherwise you are essentially paying to heat your attic

Old pop-up drain was rusted solid and would not separate at the top. Nasty shit slung everywhere, but it came out!

Everything went back ok despite almost throwing up a couple times from the smell coming from drain line...

 

Same miserable experience a couple weeks ago...

I'm just lucky I have many tools at my disposal to quickly solve something. Can't imagine just your average young couple doing the same thing and having to buy an expensive tool every time. Couple co-workers have just bought houses or are getting ready to and I'm probably gonna be pretty damn busy here soon. Can't let anybody struggle if I can help it...

Yea, I'm cheap and can do it myself. That and most likely do a better job.

I can only imagine what it would have cost an electrical company to add one circuit to a bedroom like I did last week. It took me just $200 in materials alone (needed to buy a new 250' roll of 12/2 so that was a little extra then it should have...).

 

I'll pay for some things. Looking at you mud, tape and paint. Can I do those things? Yes. Do I want to? No. When my wife painted the kitchen I was on the couch. To be fair, I did everything else in the remodel. Including stripping the kitchen to the studs and redoing some of the worse electrical work I've seen. I also hung, taped and mudded the drywall.

Who mentioned blown insulation up-thread?

 

Guess I’ll be installing a new fan in a week or two.

Actually need to upgrade my current fart fan in my bathroom. I hate to patch the ceiling, but I want to go with a Panasonic unit which is a little bit smaller in size, but can suck out the farts better!

 

I can vouch for the Panasonic whisper quiet exhaust fans. I've got them in the laundry room and both bathrooms and highly recommended them. I don't need the built in bluetooth speaker. My master bathroom already has a TV on the wall anyway.

 

I was gonna get one with a light, but I might just for for one that is fan only. The 8 bulb vanity light provides a lot of light (don't judge me, I have a large mirror and the light fixture is actually decent looking) and I was going to add a single LED recessed fixture above the tub/shower anyways. Kinda seems strange to add more light to expose my less than attractive nude self...
