    Is the King 3.0 bypass shocks ideal for heavy load offroading ? Or is it just for high speed offroading? Whats the difference between the 2.5 one? Thank you

    I had 2.5” bypass shocks on my 5th Gen 4Runner for use on fire roads. Would recommend. 3” is overkill.

    It's all about the heat load. A half inch dia shock can do just as good as a three inch dia shock except it will fail because it would heat the oil in the shock too much.
    Shocks have nothing to do with the weight of the vehicle since they don't hold up anything. Springs do all the work and shocks control the spring dampening.

    I think I’m agreeing with the specific point you are trying to make, but not on your exact language. A suspension can be modeled as a forced damped simple harmonic oscillator which consists of a mass, spring, damper, and external force. Mass definitely has a major effect on its behavior. More damping as well as a stiffer spring is required if there is more mass. Mass, spring constant, damping, and external forces all need to be taken into account when optimizing the suspension.

    That said it’s not clear that a 2.5” king shock vs a 3” has any advantage as far as tuning. It’s possible that both can be tuned to deliver similar min and max damping.

    The advantages of the 3.0, AFAIK, are 1) greater heat dissipation capacity and 2) and internal bypass. The internal bypass allows the damping to be tuned differently dependent on where is the piston is in the shock body.

    I think there is a widely believed myth that there is a correlation between the price of off road racing shocks and ride quality during daily driving.

    Lol just keeping it simple.
    Little shock at high pressure vs big shock at low pressure has the same result, except heat dissipation. Next is springs, then geometry.
