Went to good ole HF for a 6” belt sander and was admiring the $1400 band saw I cant afford. As I was carting up the sander this beast was sitting in corner w a $720 display model tag on it. Asked manager if he could come off that a bit. He prob saw my homeless chic appearance and my desperate attempt to tack Black Friday savings onto it. So, he gave it to me for $500. 1/3 price!

So I adopted a friend... But they wouldn't let me take him until they take his nuts off. But he'll be coming home with me tomorrow night.

Congrats! 2 new LT dogs in 2 days

Simba has been getting a very in depth personal tour of every little detail of our house from our daughter since last night lol.

Haven't decided yet, we always do goofy pet names in my family and my Dad suggested Alpine but just call him Al, so I'm leaning toward Bundy after Al Bundy haha

Good to hear your daughter has taken on the roll of ambassador. I'm afraid I can only be so good in that regard, this guy is maybe a year and a half old though so he can hang in the house during work I think with a little training

yeah I was very on the fence about getting a senior dog but my wife was adamant about it. Neither of us wanted a puppy just because we have our hands full enough as it is. My biggest concern with too senior is our daughter getting so attached at a young age and then having him pass away not long after.

She was very interested in some that were 10 and even 11 years old, but we compromised on 8 being the oldest we'd look for, which turned out to be exactly what we found. I know most labs average about ~10 yrs but hopefully we get him for longer than that. Regardless, even just the past 24 hours have been worth any risk in that regard just seeing how happy it's made both him and her.

What breed is he? Looks part Husky/Akita?

They think he's mostly husky. He's got all the husky trademarks except he's just lighter color. I got him from a rescue shelter and unfortunately they don't know much about him other than he was found running around in wet concrete and apparently had racked up quite the bill of damages.

I got really attached to the idea of the Husky we met a few weeks back but it just didn't pan out. He was very calm and didn't bark at all, which was a big plus for me. Luckily Simba is super calm, haven't heard him bark yet but it's probably just cause he's older.

    Short and stout? :D

Surprisingly Rebecca said the vet just told her his weight and didn't say anything about him being overweight. He might just be a big hoss naturally, I've never known a lab this big, granted we had 2 females growing up not male

Couple times Simba has growled at him when they startle one another, but they're still getting used to each other

Well you met Bronx, he's a lazy chonker that just wants to relax anywhere we're at -

    20221121_173406.jpg

We don't get any "he's big" comments or anything which I find odd for a boy his size but fortunately we've kept him at the same weight for awhile now.

You'll need a doctors prescription in order to buy the diet kibble but fortunately you can use that prescription when ordering Simba's food online too if your local petshop has it for a stupid price.

I'll need tires before driving east and given what @01x4 has said about offroad prospects out there, I'm actually contemplating getting a set of 29" highway tires :bananadead:
