Just pilin' on to help a brother out. love mine. For those of you that use your truck like a truck. The best feature is how it protects the top edge of the tailgate, so that it's a usable edge.

 

Would this still allow you to use a camper shell?

I can’t think why you’d need to modify it. The top of the tailgate with this installed sits just a bit lower than with the OEM plastic cap.

it’s possible that you’d want to add a gasket of some type to the topper if there’s a gap, but it would be minimal. Look at the ‘end’ view in my post above.

 

Works fine with my shell. No notable gap or anything of that manner

 

Thank you, I wasn’t sure if there would be an issue. I don’t have a topper on my truck. Also when I originally looked at getting the reinforcement I though I read something about the exterior of the tailgate has a bit of side to side curve. the reinforcement doesn’t have that same curve and that’s what causes the gap at the end of the reinforcement. wasn’t if the reinforcement being flat would cause a problem with the topper
