Hi I am a new member. I have a 2004 tacoma 5speed with the 5zfe. I'm looking to do a motor replacement. I have a complete donor truck, same year and motor, all matching numbers under the hood, but it is an automatic. I am looking to retain the 5 speed drivetrain. I have never had a tacoma apart before and most of my experience is with old pickups and old skidders. (very little knowledge regarding wiring).
    My questions/ thoughts are:

Do I use the entire wire harness from the 5 speed truck?

I am under the assumption that I can keep the intake manifold from the donor motor as of right now.

The bell housing swap seems very straight forward.

So you're moving the 5 speed over to the auto frame? Or do you just need the 5vz from the auto?

If you just need the 5vz, nothing is needed. Yank the auto motor, that's it. No harness or anything else needed.

I just need the motor from the auto truck. My 5 speed has 331k hard miles. It lost a timing belt but I figure it's better to just put a less tired motor in it from my yard. Thanks for the reply.

Then you need nothing else beside the long block. Reuse your intake manifold and accessories such as the alternator, ac compressor etc.

Remove the flex plate and install new flywheel. I highly recommend changing the clutch and timing belt/ water pump on the auto engine before putting it in.

You will need to tap in a pilot bearing. The crank from the "auto" motor will not have one. The bore will be there ready to accept the bearing.
