i know this has been a topic before about the 2005-2011 4 door peeps wanting to change out their gray driver side switches to the black version from the 2012-2015.

this is just to help you get in the right direction. its just what i could find on mind own since nobody else did it. if you are going to do this it will require cutting and splicing wires around. i can CONFIRM that the switch panel from the 2012-2015 will clip and fit into the 2005--2011. but the functions of each button are diffent. example pulling up on driver side switch will lower passenger rear window. lol

so you will need this. at the time of this writing. the bezel costs $13
    https://www.amazon.com/APPERFiT-Com...9&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY

then you need switches... like these... their are cheaper options. but i know alot of guys been wanting to upgrade to the AUTO UP on all the indows
    https://cartrimhome.com/Door-Switch-For-Toyota-Tacoma-2012-2015?tracking=TacoOutlaw

and then i made this for you guys to print out.may not be exact looking but again to get you in the right direction. pinouts 9,13, 14,15,16,17 and 18 are all the same between both. so dont have to worry about those.

another thing to note. it would be harder to depin and relocate some pins as all the wire pin holes on the clip itself are different sizes. namely pins 2,5,8,11,14 and 17

FYI. i havent started on this project yet. this is as far as i got. i have the switch bezel but cant afford the switches yet. when i do ill update this with more pics when i get started on it. unless someone else beats me to it first

I’ve been wanting to do this for a couple years now. Then I thought I should just paint the plastic trim.

i just found a generic picture on google and made my own diagram and pinout and went and took my own pics and everything. if you want to go ahead and make your own diagram for yourself and post it be my guest. lol.

i did say in the diagram that im looking at it from the wires side coming out. its meant for tracing wires and matching them up for those that are trying to rewire it. spent days finding someone with a 2.5 gen to let me take the window switch out and take a picture and let me try to put in my 2011 switch to see what it does. so at least for me makes sense to do it from wire side as thats where everyone sees it coming out from and easier to trace. at the end of the day for the purpose of the original post does it matter that the clip is exaclty perfect looking to whats in the door? or the pinout and color of the wires

Did this ever work in the end? Seems like the easiest way of getting all the windows to be auto up/down.

I did this and it works great. I’m struggling to find the bezel for the right front side though. I found the driver side for $10, but the right side is only available from OEM ($50-$60) as far as I can see.

    I’m going to keep searching.

Ebay. I bought a used passenger side bezel for $22/shipped. Looks good enough to be near new.

Did you have to rewire the passenger side or the other windows as well to work or is the driver side the master side that would give the rest auto up/down? Would like to have the passengers be able to do the same.

Are the plugs the same between the 2005-2011 and 2012-2015 switches?

You have to rewire the front passenger window switch too. I haven't read of a one touch switch retrofit to the rear windows of a double cab.

Switches are different between Gen2 and Gen2.5 so plugs are different

Thanks for clarifying. Going to source the Gen2.5 plug for driver and passenger.
Any chance you have the wire diagram for the passenger?
Im going to go with the cartrimhome switches just cause they light up as well.

So to clarify, rewire driver and passanger side switches to accommodate, the Gen2.5 switches...just doing that, I'd be good to go with the cartrimhome switches, correct or am I missing something else?

There are two pins on the passenger side that need flipping but otherwise, it’s mainly the driver side that needs modification.

The one from CarTrim works. I ended up buying another one that was the wrong version, from another site. I only read about it after the fact that there are different versions. It cost me extra money because I couldn’t return it. To be on the safe side, stick to the CarTrim one.

CarTrim is working on a 2005-2011 version. I received a prototype recently but was having issues. New sample will be here end of the month. For anyone looking to not upgrade.

I have one from CarTrim for my 07 but i have to swap the wires around for it to work on the drivers side.

Are you swapping to the 2012 switches for the auto up and down? They will have a 2005 - 2011 soon as well.

I bought it a few months ago and went overseas for a minute, so I doubt they would consider a swap. would be nice though!!
    Thanks.

if not I'm sure you could sell it easy. I will have a sample of the new early 2nd gen end of month. Last version did not fully work so they are working on a new sample.

Keep us posted. I was pretty close on purchasing the 2.5 gen switches and swap wires around.
