Yeah, to me there is no comparison. Especially with something this involved.

I called ECGS to help me figure something out with the rear diff removal, and they ended up giving me the wrong information (difference between locker on 2nd and 3rd gen) that could have damaged a small part of the diff. This lone techs knowledge isn't indicative of the company as a whole, but it definitely hurt my opinion of them.

Ken goes all in. He fine tuned my engagement to the .003" increment, to literally get it perfect. Swapping shims is not easy, according to him at least, which I agree.

Yeah, the extra down time will just have to be planned. I can swap the diffs in a day with ECGS but it could also not be the last time. With Zuk it will be cry but once, cry once and good to go for the life of the truck. Only question left is do I lock the front while I’m in there? Would be nice to have for those few times I could use it.

I'll never lock my front and I personally do not think a locked IFS front is a wise decision, but, to each their own.

Not entirely sure. We're planning a long trip next year so probably a Four Wheel Camper for the Taco just for that trip and then maybe back to no camper on it. We might get a bigger truck for that trip too, still undecided but its fun shopping. Also wifey is getting a 4runner next year which will get a GFC roof tent and become a weekend rig.

This is equally as possible as gears/mid travel/37s right now.

Ha, you read into that a little too much. Not getting another GFC for the Taco, at least not right now. I am known to buy/sell/buy back the same shit Ive had in the past though so its not outta the question!

Thanks but thats only partially true. Blazer is big and slow and a totally different animal. It will come down to the valley soon to be our winter camping rig though.

FWIW, Az Differential beat Zuk's price by a substantial amount.. the exact amount escapes me since it was like 5+ years ago. Still going strong with zero issues.

CV axles are weak. I'd rather winch than replace an axle trailside.

higher chance of using a front locker than finding a place to winch in the desert IMO

Ive always been told that CV axles (and driveshafts) are good fuses for your driveline because they are relatively easy to repair and carry spares for when wheeling. Obviously not breaking anything is better but I like what Ross said ha.

Agree especially if your wheeling solo. Doesn't mean use it all the time, but the off chance you need to without a solid anchor. Just a flip of a switch and a little psi changes the game.
