My entire family loathes cooking. They hate the very idea of it. I damn near kicked my sister out of the house two years ago for trying to contribute microwave frozen mashed taters to the meal.
Meanwhile I'm the odd one, I love a home cooked meal. It's far, far more enjoyable when some work goes into it - better than any restaurant. I enjoy getting up at the crack of dark and starting the fire in the smoker, and the multiple timers and thermometers all going off - check the turkey, glaze the ham, pie out of the oven while casserole goes in. I love the whole show.

I lost the voting round this year. We're sitting on our ass and waiting for our 3 o'clock reservation.

It's cool. I'll enjoy the day, enjoy the fam, grab some discount cuts at the butcher's tomorrow, and cook something fun on Saturday.

I'm not trying to pry into your personal matters but only trying to help...

Is there any agreement/place in writing that states you can't buy anything for them?

We still talk and do stuff with my cousins ex husband (weird I know but it works for us) and he has gone through petty things with his ex wife/my cousin. One of the latest issues he's had with the whole situation is his daughter's are calling his new wife "mom". He never told them to call her that but they see her as a mother to them thus calling her mom. According to a clause in their divorce agreements they aren't allowed to call his new wife mom even though hes not telling them to do so. His ex/my cousin is having an absolute fit over it all!

If there isn't a paper that states in writing you can't buy them anything then I don't see how he has any right to say you can't buy them anything. I could be wrong though.

 

Just horrible! This is why I hate people.

Naw man, don't beat yourself up. I'll throw in the perspective that many many moons ago I was once the kid caught in the no-man's-land between the trenches.

Best thing you can do is A) be there, and B) be consistent.
Make your house the stable safe space. Keep all battles invisible. If you can work out a line of communication with the choad, that's a win. If not, just be there, and be consistent.

 

Well, now I know why Mrs Gritto was complaining about the turkey price.
She got one of those Butterball boneless turkey breast things.
$15 for 3 pounds...
That mesh bag was a pain in the tukas to get off

Great meal though, just the two of us.
Turkey, mashed taters, cranberry, dressing, punkin pie, etc etc.
