I just did a 3 day thing with AZ Overlanders along El Camino del Diablo during veterans day weekend and that wound up being a pretty good pace, I think it was 40-50 miles a day. Not sure exactly if that lines up with what you had in mind or not.

nice, I’ve been wanting to try that trail. It was one of our possibilities last spring when we did parts of the AZ Peace trail instead.

Def recommend you do it around mid-Nov. Temps were down into 40s at night and 60s-70s during the day. I did it with stock tires at 20psi with no issues.

i havent done the Camino in a few years, last time i was there they had one section looking like a hiway for the big rigs bringing stuff in for the border fence

that year i just drove through after getting the permits (which i understand are online only now?), ate lunch at Taco Bell in Yuma, then went back through Camino and headed north after the Altas and spent the nite near the training camp with the old F4's and fake middle east town hoping to see some action, but no such luck so i walked around the place for a bit in the morning and headed north to Kofa

Kofa can take a while because 1: theres lots to see, and 2: they have closed some of the trails that would connect through the middle of the refuge, making you go around, anyway, i slept in the Kofa cabin that night, but my favorite cabin by far is Wilbanks

ya know, another really cool expedition, or overland trip or whatever you kids call it these days, is a circumnavigation of the Salton sea, and do it via the Bradshaw trail.

I was stationed at Yuma. I was all around the El Camino back in the day. Before I even knew what it was called. It was just our way through the range and the mountains for dirt bikes an stuff.
On that, lots of unexploded ordinance out there, and lots of radiation stuff too. Especially through the range part. I remember, you used to just use the call box at the gate to call and get permission to cross or get told to go away.

We used to get all kinds lost in Kofa. Back in 04/05 after Iraq also. Just a 4wd F150 and go. No maps, nada. Fun times. Thats why having more knowledge now would be fun.

Also, this is something I need to be able to do in a long weekend.

So it’s looking like April the 13…

@TailHook or @MR E30 want to take the lead on the planning? Maybe start a new thread?

No reason to start a new thread...this one works just fine.

13-16Apr are the dates...everyone needs to sound off if they're going, and we'll start a private thread.
