I have posted this a few times and everyone advised me this would be the best forum to ask in.
I will be buying my first new truck (2023 Tacoma SR Access Cab 4x2 I4) and was just curious of what I can expect. I am currently driving a 2011 2.0L Jeep Patriot and it has always had enough power for me. I'm just curious to see what I can expect moving to the 2.7L Tacoma. It's so cool to see everyone else's builds and see everyone's questions answered so quickly!!! I have already learned so much just from lurking on the forums!

I don’t have to turn my A/C off to pass people like I did in my 1999 2.4L.

Do yourself a favor buy a SR5 model as you get so many small features over the SR..SR comes without painted front bumper, stripped down of all plus many normal features..The SR5 is maybe less then $1,500USD more and you seriously at least get a dozen upgrades or more plus prewired for other features to be added later.. The SR5 2.7L is the highest trim Toyota sells and the only single option available is a " Appearance package " upgraded to larger Aluminum rims and tires plus body color over fenders trim..for $685.USD..Which is well worth the extra as the steel rims weigh 3x the Aluminum and are smaller..besides looking so much better..I have no problems driving the 2TR-FE 2.7L I4 that tows 3,500lbs in the USA per DOT regs, outside the USA 5,500lbs every other country..It a great engine but does like use fuel the more you push it..

    I just bought a 2017 SR Access Cab 4x4 2.7 5MT. Couldn't be happier with the performance.

Appreciate the information. Unfortunately the dealership I'll be buying from only gets this model as a quick sell every year and usually only stocks the TRD models. I used to work there and they're giving me a heck of a deal on the truck so the only thing I got to pick was the utility package being taken off. So no ugly black bumper for me!

There's so many other features like the automatic headlights, day time running lights, intermittent wipers, probably tilt steering..cruise control etc.. alot of small things that make the everyday drive so much better..they are straight up lying to you..they can " special order " anything they WANT..they are just trying to get you to buy something in route vs waiting 60days..Trust me several Stealerships lied to me too..But then found a honest Dealership that didn't force a single aftermarket Stealership add on like floor mats or $184 lugnut locks etc plus straight MSRP no mark up..Seriously go to a few more Stealerships / Dealerships just to price check..

    Brand new.
Break Down , spend a little more and purchase yourself a TRD Off-road, you'll be happy that you did , just keep little old ladies from rear ending you. because let me tell you , I have been waiting 2.5 months now for replacement parts.

You could always get a Nissan Frontier S, which is the base model but it has a V6, and is available as a king cab. It does have a black rear bumper, front is matched to the truck.

The only down side is, it's not a Toyota.

My 22 (edit, 21) SR has all those features and a body color painted bumper.

I was floored that mine came with heated mirrors.

As long as your happy..but further research between the SR trim level vs SR5 trim level such as on Toyota build website will actually show you how much of a difference and trust me its alot of features you can't get on a SR 2.7L 2TR-FE model vs a SR5 2.7L 2TR-FE..a big feature of the Acess cab 2.7L model that's available is the 4x4 option..unfortunately the double cab 2.7L doesn't have that option available..

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
Mine came in today. Placed order for UnderCover Elite today and seat heaters Tuesday.
In all my years selling these “old man trucks” i never drove one.
Then after reading all the bad press here in power LET ME TELL YOU ITS JUST FINE. I had talked to my Service Manager also retired and he said don’t listen it’s just fine. He is exactly correct. I am so happy with the drive ability today.
