Here's a little update of my situation- I now feel like the luckiest man alive. I decided to do my 3,000 mile oil change and noticed that the oil filter was leaking very badly. Replaced it and changed the oil and the leak stopped! It's now been about 5 days with no drips! Could I be this lucky? I'm not going to confirm anything quite yet but I think I lucked out and just had a very bad oil filter leak that was running down the back of the engine onto the trans causing me to think that it was a rear main. I'm not celebrating just yet, but yeah :)

Basically, it's being so flabbergasted that you burst into flames and die.

    Still no leaks?

    Moral of the story...

Check everything, seriously everything before you spend crazy amounts of money to fix a problem that doesn't even exist

Oh and change your oil and filter before you start to troubleshoot a leak...

I'm going through the same thing but with less oil, and also had that front shock mess identical to yours. My oil filter looks fine, however. Was the CV boot / shock area something else?

Yes the CV boot was leaking grease in addition to the oil leak. Best way to find your leak imo is going to be to clean everything up really good, then go on a 15 or so minute test drive (depending on how bad the leak is). Then check, you should be able to get a better idea where it is coming from.
