Hello eveyone, I own a 2001 SR5 2.7 L 4wd 198K, my question deals with radiator loseing all of it's coolant due to transmission line rotting out, noticed the engine light come on and then the temp gauge into the H level. Pulled truck over had it towed installed a new radiator, parked at a angle to fill the radiator. Pressure tested the system to make sure the head gasket was not blown it held steady. When I start it, it slowly warms up at idle and the heat works. When I drive it about a mile the heats stops and the temp goes into the H zone. Bought a new thermostat have not installed yet. I poured about 2 1/2 gallons to refill when it goes into the hot zone it fills the overflow coolant tank. Perhaps the extreme heat ruined the thermostat? I know I had to retigjhten my oil filter after that onslaught of heat. Thanks for any help ...

Transmission line won't dump coolant. It only carries trans fluid. Has your trans been topped back up?

    Is the fan clutch working?

And I suspect there is still an air bubble messing with you.

Put the new t stat in and start over with the burping process.

Did you replace the radiator cap with the new radiator?
