I wanted to share these pics here too...

 

I don't know if you saw this in the Pennsylvania thread when I posted the pictures there earlier, but a box truck took out a vacant house at the decommissioned Navy base (still in use for Air Force and Air National Guard)...

 

The truck went in through the back of the house, so essentially the house's backyard backs up to Route 611/Easton Road, and is right across the street from Chapman Ford. If anybody wants to see the wreck before they clean it up, just put the address for Chapman Ford in Horsham, PA into your GPS and it's literally directly across the street.

 

The house is probably almost century old, and was purchased by the government when they built the base along with probably three or four similar houses. The houses were renovated and retrofitted with central A/C in the 1980s or 1990s, but the base was shut down over a decade ago, and these houses have been vacant since probably 2007-2010...

 

I have no idea if these houses still have electricity or water going to them, but I highly doubt it. This appears to be a fairly large bedroom, and the condition of the walls tells me that the water was likely shut off. The interior walls are undamaged and the house seems fairly clean. On another note, look at that solid stone outer wall. That truck must have been hauling ass!

 

When we moved back to PA in 2005, my dad was offered one of these houses, but they weren't in my parents' first choice of school district, and even more importantly they had high levels of radon. On top of that, these maybe half a dozen houses, some of which were not occupied even back then, located on a Navy base. A traditional neighborhood would have been a better place for yours truly, and luckily my parents kept that in mind...
