Any reason why the weather app never works?

Seems like the majority of the time it just gives me errors...

 

mine is so latent it doesn’t even matter.

 

if mine even works, it's outdated.

 

It only works if you are in an area that broadcasts weather. Where I live it works great, but when I go visit family it doesn't work at all.

Mine works fine. It's about as accurate as any other weather forecast.

I wonder if it's from whatever HD signal your truck is pulling from, and not the truck itself. I've been getting irritated that my favorite station has been randomly cutting in and out. Turns out it's a problem with their tower, not my radio.

 

Can’t you just roll down the window and check the weather?

 

Because the weatherman is seldom right. Toyota just saving you the anger.

 

I forget the "native" Toyota stuff is even there on the head unit. I'm 100% Carplay. The native Toyota stuff is just garbage. Almost embarrassing.

 

Mine just gives me wind warnings.

 

Mine too, though admittedly the indicators took me a minute to learn. This one means "crosswind coming from the right."

 

I wish that stuff (weather, map) would just synch from an iphone app via bluetooth like Wunderground.

Would futureproof it to some degree.

 

My son asks alexa every morning what the weather is outside... I keep telling him to just look out the window, or maybe poke his head out the door and he will find out.

 

There are costs to access the API from those apps. The radio weather is free. The only way they could do an app is to charge a subscription.

 

Mine works fine. The actual radar map thing has been exact on a few trips. Knew exactly when and where we’d hit snow or rain.

 

I prefer the map toyota has over using google maps on android auto. Google maps can be very inaccurate at times and also doesnt show turns and stuff on the lil screen above the wheel.

 

My 2018 won't load the weather map unless I've had access to an HD radio station. Did a 3000+ road trip in October had to always find an FM HD station and tune in for a few minutes to get data downloads. Works great

 

Never messed with it but I will today. Im in Ct and I always get NY / Long Island “current weather” so I never bothered.

 

Over three years and just found out there is a weather map...

 

My weather app I believe gets Weather Channel info by HD Radio. It works but I feel the NOAA site is more accurate.

Why the fuck would a truck need to give a weather forecast? Is the super computer phone we all already carry around not good enough?
