We have a 06 Tacoma with aftermarket projector-type headlights. We had a bulb go out. We were able to remove the bulb but we dont know how it comes apart or how to find a replacement. Can anybody help us out? Thanks all.

Appears to be a D3S with the integrated igniter. Wouldn't be a separate burner, would come as a unit. Good news for you if thats the case is that there's likely a good unit available from either Osram (Nightbreaker Laser line) or Phillips (extremevision line). A much better starting point than the common mini-H1 style HIDs

Neither of those has that blue wire running on the outside of the glass tube.,

The tube is there to support/insulate the wire for completing the circuit between the two electrode tips.

I assumed D3S, but it could also be D3R. Os there any identifying type/text on the igniter box?

(Strictly talking out my ass here) From your pic its difficult to guess how tall that collwr is around the base of the burner. It may be a xenondepot igniter and burner, but the format of the combo appears to be the d3s. I'm not sure its intended to be separated, and the D3S bulbs I posted screenshots of come as a unit. I would take it the idea is the igniter components see more wear/higher failure than the rest of the ballast electronics, so replacing the igniter with the bulb increases long term reliability.

The nightbreaker laser and xtremevsion bulbs are well worth the price over what you linked. Crashnburn80 has some test data in his 3rd gen headlamp bulb, with an HID retrofit. Either of these resulted in a significant i crease in intensity, without additional power draw. Better bulbs are pricey, but thwyre well worth the cost.
