Every so often I find random reasons to power up this dinosaur. Built it 22 years ago and it still works. It seems since the last time I powered it up, one of the RAM sticks (or slot) died, and had to re-seat the video card. The GPU fan also seems to have died as well. I have another AGP card for it. Between the HDD and power supply fan, it's not quiet. (Though I kind of enjoy the old HDD noises).

Did a little shopping today, I think I have one HDD left in my rig so I’ll replace that and the two 1TB Samsung SSD’s that are my “storage space” I’ll replace with the 2 TB SSD’s.

This should fix my storage problems.

Right clicking on the taskbar you should have an option in that menu to disable widgets, new & interests, etc.

I see, would probably take a registry modification. I've never found anything I actually wanted there.

    Yeah.
I haven't messed with them much, but when you close one you can select an option for not seeing more from that source. Now, whether random ones come back at the whim of our friends at Microsoft, I do not know.

Need some help; Looking at buying something pre-built for the kiddo for christmas, extremely budget oriented. She doesn't play anything very graphics demanding, but would like to find something that could handle Overwatch if she chose to give it a try at 60fps/1080p, so nothing crazy.

For context, she's been playing Sims on my old macbook air (2019) and we've hit the threshold for storage so its not a very fun "gaming" experience anymore; plus I wouldn't mind having the macbook back lol. So something along the performance of that at minimum, which hopefully shouldn't be hard. Budget is "the cheaper, the better".

This probably overkill but a nice little package for $700.

Ending up going with a 5800x3d since I had rewards through Best Buy. Combined with a 6800xt, it’s amazing seeing essentially 165fps locked while playing call of duty in 1440p. My watch has now ended

This is essentially the computer I almost built in a different case, before deciding to go intel and 6700xt instead lol. This looks really solid, but definitely outside of the preferred budget/needs. The most demand she will ever give a computer will be possibly trying out Fortnite or Overwatch on it, but mostly just internet browsing and Sims. I'm honestly a little uneducated about the PC world, and only researched as much as I could regarding the components I needed for my build, but I'm wondering if going something cheaper with integrated graphics will just be throwing money away or if it'd be enough. I'm definitely not interested in building or buying a $500+ "gaming computer" for her to possibly grow out of interest in a year, so would like to keep it as cheap as possible, but I think I'm just between a rock and a hard place with this one. Having a tough time considering $3-400 desktops bc they're cheap/no performance, yet not interested in throwing $500+ at something beginner that she might not like.

I think my logic is telling me I need to bite the bullet and take the risk on something more in that 6-700 range, that actually could be upgradable in the future should she fall in love with it, or should she hate it and I rebuild it for my wife or something. Who knows. You guys ever hate researching PC stuff? It was fun for my build, not so much someone elses lol.

If you buy or build her something barebones I'll send you my 1050ti, it's just collecting dust at this point. It's only pulls power from the slot, so no cabling to worry about.

That is extremely nice of you to offer. I truly don't know what exactly I'm looking for at the moment to be honest.

Thoughts on this for daughters 1st build? (My 2nd build)
Integrated graphics to start with, and IF she starts playing more demanding games and a GPU is needed, we have the option. I still feel brand new to all of this. Does anyone see any issues with using this build for basic internet browsing, Sims, Fortnite, possibly Overwatch at 1080p?

Not sure about the integrated gpu on the 5600g. If looking at buying discreet gpu later down the road, depending on what you get you might want to go with a little bit higher power supply.

I think I'm completely overthinking things at this point. IF a GPU in the future was a possibility, it'd most definitely be nothing more than a RX6600 at the very most.
