Looking at dumping my truck for an SUV, anyone done this and regret it? I've always had pickup trucks but for the last three or four years I haven't hauled anything larger than a dog so the bed has been kinda useless for me.

    I have no regrets,

First vehicle was a 07 trdor, later on I had 18 TRDOR, sold it during covid and bought a 05 GX470 Sport KDSS in 2020. sold my 470 after doing a mild overland build on it in August and picked up a 2010 GX460 w/118k mi this week and absolutely love it. Off the bat I will say its my favorite vehicle I have owned to date (had a 15 forester, 18 crosstrek and a 2018 Silverado between owning Toyota vehicles)

I had the following on my "next vehicle" list: 2.5 and 3rd gen taco, 08+ Sequoia, GX460 and 5th Gen 4runners.

worked at a Toyota dealership for a couple of months so I had multiple opportunities to drive a wide range of Toyota trucks/SUVs.

The ride quality and workmanship quality of the GX460 is hard to beat in regards to the Toyota family. It has the power that the 1gr and 2gr, lacks (I personally prefer the 4.0 1GR over the 3.5 2GR) it feels bigger while still being very nimble for a 7 seating SUV, the interior is significantly more comfortable that any vehicle I have owned and my wife agrees.

My only true complaint about the 460 is the head unit. Beat Sonic has a apple play/android auto plug and play kit that allows the factory head unit to "run" a now integrated 2nd program. Its pretty awesome and definitely plan on getting one once they release it for the 10-13 HU.

I have gone from 09 taco ---> 14 taco ---> 00' Taco ----> 06 GX470. Love the space and power of the V8. It's bigger, inside wise, than a T4R and the sound deadening is amazing.

    4Runner > Tacoma, and a GX is just a pimped out 4Runner.

I'm half joking, because it really comes down to your needs. I went 4R, 4R, Taco, 4R. The Taco was nice, but I wanted my station wagon back.

If you don't need a bed, there's really nothing to regret. Go drive one! :boink:

I'll assume the second part is correct, but how much bigger can it really be?

I've been thinking of selling my Tacoma for a GX460 lately. I would miss the open bed but I can procure a small folding 4x8 trailer

The GX460 drives really nice. It has the power, comfort and build quality that the current generation tacomas don't.

What I really want is a gen 1 Raptor but the good ones are a needle in a haystack of beat to shit ones.

I just picked up a 09’ 470 and it’s just an all around nicer car to be in. It’s so much smoother and quieter than my Tacoma and the v8 is awesome (not on fuel consumption). I don’t regret it at all and frankly I just wasn’t using my Tacoma for truck stuff that much anyway.

I had a 2010 with no air suspension and I was not a fan of it. spring rate is soft and hunted gears quite a bit even with just a heavily loaded 8ft utility trailer. If you had heavy load suspension and E rated tires im assuming the ride will be significantly better like my 470 did with those modifications.

Made this move 2 weeks ago, traded in my 2022 TRD Sport for a 2020 GX 460. Like others, wasn't doing "Truck" stuff all that often and overall this is a more versatile vehicle for someone with 2 Kids/Family to haul around. Very pleased so far and obviously a big step up in refinement.

    I've had a 15 Tundra, 16 4Runner, and now have a 19 Taco while the wife has a 21 GX460.

The GX is a great vehicle and I envy my wife lol. If she ever wants something else, I will be taking the GX no questions about it.

I'm back on the thought of getting a GX. I need to replace my driver side doors on the taco after I got sideswiped before I consider selling it. But with a baby and our other car being a Leaf, sub compact electric, hauling a baby and associated accessories is cramped in the Leaf and the Taco is truck. Not sure if I want to go for a 460 or a 470. Both will get lower MPG than the tacoma but if I can pay cash money it wont matter.

Went the other way and my wife still has the GX. Back seat space is very nice as is the 3rd row when needed. The V8 power is nice, but way worse mileage. Also towed a mini-excavator with it once upon a time and def tows better than my tacoma.
