Back in October, I made the trek through Northern Michigan with my girlfriend to catch some great views while the leaves were in their prime.

This was also the maiden voyage for a few mods that I had added to my truck, those mods being solar, a fridge and a diesel heater. I ran all of those off of a single X2 Power 27F battery, but driving every day helped keep things topped off.

First stop was right across the Mackinac Bridge.

That was by far, the coldest night of the trip. We woke up with an icy tent, but the diesel heater kept us warm overnight.

For the next few days we ventured through the UP and found a pretty good site up past Marquette that we stayed for the majority of our nights up there. We had the perfect view of Lake Superior.

We explored some neat trails, did a few water crossings, and overall had a great time. There are a lot of places that have been barely touched by man up that way.

Not to give away all the good spots easily, they're pretty easy to find with a little research.

Overall, it was a great trip. The food stayed cold, the tent stayed warm, and everyone stayed happy. This was a special trip for me and really took me back to my childhood. My family would always vacation in the UP, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Great pics. I'm in Toledo, OH and plan to start venturing my way up to N. Michigan this year.
