I haven’t researched the MA BDR very much, just looked at the route, I need to watch the documentary on it.

Id like to do the NE, MA, and ID BDR’s, just gotta make the time and have the time off from work.

New years is going to be our first big trip, going to ride about an hour and a half north and try to find some dirt roads and backroads to travel near Laurel, Ms.

Good to know, we’re not exactly experienced riders.

If that's the case the mabdr would be the best for you, we did the Idaho bdr few months ago(super tenere and ktm 890) little tougher but nothing crazy on big bikes

We had my son hovering at 103.5 whenever the meds would wear off (he was about a year at the time) and we would alternate tylenol and ibuprofen not knowing they could be given at the same time. We did end up taking him to the ER after it lasted 5 days like this (we took him to his ped twice and the second time I broke down frustrated and they told me to go to the ER), scariest shit I dealt with as a parent. Turns out he just had rhinovirus and adenovirus at the same time. We are much more prepared and understand a lot more after that experience. We don't like doing both at the same time unless absolutely necessary though because the one time he crashed so hard off the fever his body temp was ridic low and he would not stop shaking. Being a parent is hard ha.

Fun fact, I own a bike that has completed the TAT. The previous owner used the DRZ for that.

Fighting a fever for days means something is going on and none of the ER employees I know would bitch about that scenario. My rant was more for folks that have had a fever for a day and not treating it like they should and come to the ER to be "fixed". It's just frustrating when that happens for us b/c 9 times out of 10, that's the ones that will bitch about wait times.....and we're not allowed to tell them "The reason we have such a long wait is b/c people use this place as a primary care". They don't see the ones in the back that can't breathe or may be septic. Those pts take up a lot of resources and staff. That's why the non-emergent pts(and sometimes emergent b/c no beds) sit out in the lobby.

I will say, working in the ER has given me a lot of patience when I'm the customer. I see how people treat us when we're running our ass off in the back and they can't see it.

We avoid the ER at all costs if we can. I learned how expensive it can be with my dislocated finger. I tried to do the right thing, went to Urgent Care to get it fixed. They couldn't and sent me to the ER so now I got to pay $120 at Urgent care AND $1272 at the ER.

My last FJR1300 completed the Iron Butt Rally. It didn't start it but it did finish it. A rider's BMW suffered catastrophic engine failure on day 10 of 11 and I gave him my bike to finish on.

If the Urgent Care sends folks to an ER....they shouldn't get paid. We have them send pts iover all the time for bullshit that they can fix.

1 example. They sent a dude over and told him he needed stitches on his big toe. They couldn't do it b/c of the lidocaine shortage(like we weren't dealing with the same thing)....thing was, he only needed steri-strips, no stitches. That's pure laziness on the UC's part. They should in no way be paid for that shit. I feel for folks like that. They were trying to do the right thing and get screwed with a huge ER bill.

Hell, I work here and my copay is $140

I'll give you a perfect example of why I'm jaded towards people. We just had a dude come in that cut his finger. Bone is showing. Get him setup in the room, walk out....and a 45yr old with "sore belly button" is signing in

I'll never understand how this happens, unless they have benefits where they literally only pay the copay?

Most non-emergent in our ER is Medicaid with no copay($5 everywhere else), college kids with rich parents, or the affluent folks around town. Our little ER actually pulls in more money than the main campus ER(they still make a profit too). Which is rare b/c ER's are usually a loss for most hospitals.

The only time I have ever been to the ER was about 5 years ago. Day after Thanksgiving I was getting the Christmas decorations out of storage in the garage rafters and stepped back onto a jack stand, rolled my ankle to the side hard and heard a nice pop. I tried icing it for about 30 min but it was still swelling up and hurt like hell so the wife said I as going somewhere. Of course it was like 9pm because we were working 2nd shift at the time and lived our lives that time of night, so the only option was the ER or wait until the next day for a walk-in to be open. Of course during the 2 hour wait it mostly stopped hurting unless I put weight on it but we figured since we were already there we might as well stay. Xrays came up with nothing but at least they put me in a splint until I could get to the podiatrist on Monday. I felt kind of bad for it being seemingly nothing but I felt worse for the workers in there and listening to some of the other people they were dealing with, chasing one guy around yelling at him not to pee there at least a couple times. Turned out I torn every ligament in my ankle and got to spend the next 2 months on crutches and wasn't back to normal until mid summer.

That's a case of all that's available. Hell, I woke up one night puking my guts up and my blood sugar was dropping. I couldn't stop the BS, so I came into work. I only had a bad stomach virus, but without the IV with dextrose, my BS would have dropped and sent me into a coma. Some things can't be helped.

At the end of the day, I'll continue to bitch about stupid shit coming in the door....but without it....we wouldn't have jobs b/c there's truly not enough "emergencies" to keep this place open.
    We're a glorified 24hr Doc's office :D

well i went into my doc today and we did xrays and nothing has moved which is good but when i asked what the problem was with everything and why i was having pain? i got well idk if it happens again come back in for a ct scan and we can take a look... he did say it could be a couple small things causing the pain and the bump but still not sure since xray is good and since the pain has sorta gone away (i had 4 days off work) he said it seemed fine... so guess ill keep a close eye on it
