Geez, clearance that pan any more and you won't have any oil! Might as well do a dry sump.

man this is the one thing that really sucks about the ranger...
our tail lights are very popular to be stolen since they cost 1200 new each... they have a sensor built in and the sensor is paired with the vin so its rather pricey to get the tail lights and then get the new bliss system bought and installed.... hope it never happens but you never know and before you ask no nobody makes a aftermarket taillight for my truck that disables the bliss system to make it cheaper or a lot of people would have gone that route already.

nope! thankfully not yet i keep mine in the garage trust me id be pretty mad haha

the only way to get to them is to unlock the truck and drop the tailgate or do what thieves are doing atm destroy the lock or destroy the handle to gain access to the internals then pull the lights and cut the harness... last person this happened to it was 6k in damage that insurance took care of

ya its a bit nuts for a sensor setup tbh... like i get the tail lights are full led for xlt and lariat but like man come on without the sensors they are around 800 then you have to put the sensors in and it goes up to 1200 each... and dont get me wrong the sensor works great! its just nuts how much it cost!

So what's the point of having a sensor in your tail light? Toyota gets a bad rap for having low tech vehicles but... I can replace the tail lights on my taco for like 150 bucks. And there's no sense or to program or defend ID with or any of that nonsense. It's a freaking tail light lol

It's an optional system, and installing the sensor into the already modular taillight simplifies manufacturing. (kind of like a particular clutch master placement...) They're not the only manufacturer with a blind spot system, nor the only ones with the sensor in the taillight. Blame modern bloated/high beltline vehicle design and the inability of the average driver to properly set or use their mirrors.

as sear said its a blindspot it is pretty good and has lots of tech built in so it works great but the cost for the thing is nuts!

now comparing a light without the bliss system AUS truck to the tacoma is a bit better since both dont have a sensor but the ranger still is full led so it cost more for oem unlike the 3rd gens old school design (which i still find odd since the late 2nd gens had led tail lights) personally still dont understand the cost but its meh to me. my concern is since the bliss is so pricey nobody makes aftermarket tail lights for my truck yet... and the overseas truck may be the same body buuut they changed the tail light design ever so slightly so it wont fit our body style so we cant get raptor tail lights thanks ford!

tbh blind spot is neat buuut at the same time i have a camera and mirrors.. so in a truck i dont see the purpose tbh to have it but i didnt want an xl (only American model without it) with no features so i got the xlt which sadly has it

I’d rather the sensor be in the tail light… then it’s protected unlike the BSM in the bumper that gets destroyed from road grime

the thing that bugs me is i wish it was something that can be taken out of the tail light because if you destroy the lens on your tail light ford wont just replace the housing or the lens no they replace everything including the sensor so most of us wish it was a bolt in kinda deal that was easy to remove for situations like that

Let's be honest, automakers don't care about what the end user or the guy fixing it thinks about this.
