I have a 2021 off-road with stock 265/70R16‘s. Looking for the same size tire with all weather better grab for Alaska. I bought an off-road to stay on the road—that is, I don’t do moon craters or drama climbs I just want good snow traction w/o having to tire swap every season.
    Thanks

On-road with just some off-road trails the Michelin LTX m/s is one of the best. Want a little more aggressive look and still last a pretty long time then the KO2's or Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. Many seem to like the Falken Wildpeak and although they do good off-road and on, I have heard many complain about short tread life when used all on road and they get noisier after 20k miles. No personal experience with any of these other than the Michelin and they have been fantastic getting at least 100k miles on every set I have had.

Alaska sounds like a great place to have Duratracs.

I've thought about toyo open country III, bit cheaper than duratracs and supposed longer tread life.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S? If so, it's a pretty good tire. It's what I put on my '21 TRD OR that spends all its time on the road and through snowy weather.

The stock wranglers are just fine on snow. IMHO, but I can’t say there aren’t better snow tires. I have 2 sets of tires and the wranglers are my road and winter tires. The other tires are mud terrains.

i got a set of cooper discoverer atp ii from discount tire a couple weeks ago. they only ordered 2 falken wildpeaks for some reason so i went with the coopers. comparisons on their website looked pretty similar. the atp ii are supposed to be pretty much the same as the at3/at4 or something, just discount tire exclusive. they ended up being a couple hundred cheaper too

Again, there is good reason that Alaskan oil companies put Goodyear Duratrac on all their light trucks.

Duratracs. Plus, if you bank with USAA you get 25% off. A set of Duratracs in the OEM size was like $785 bucks installed last year for me through USAA.

I've got 55k on my Wildpeaks 90% on road and I'd guess they have another 10k on them but I'll probably replace soon. Great tire.

I have the same firestones on my taco. So far so good. They don't look macho but they handle pretty dang good.

2D7AFE27-D2FB-4414-BFDD-40ABABC13E21.jpg I have these and never had any issues. They’re triple peak severe snow rated and are a good price. Go up a size to 265/75/16. You won’t rub.

    I second this choice.
I’m still under 1k miles on mine. So I can’t say that much about them. But so far, they’re great.

I did rub on the mud flap with 265/75/16. Had to take it off.

My first choice has always been Toyo Open Country AT3's followed by Yokohama Geolander MT G003's. I've run several sets of Michelin LTX M/S and don't care for them anymore. They're super soft and smooth, but dry rot way too quick. For what it's worth, BFG/Michelin are the same conglomerate and some of the K02's have had similar issues.

However, I'd suggest the Goodyear Duratrac's for Alaska. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/another-goodyear-duratrac-review.648535/

I’m going with Mickey Thompson BB.
