A rear locker can help a lot, but a Tacoma with good tires and just standard 4wd can go most places most people wanna go lol ….. it’s 4wd lol. I gaurantee you 90% of people w the locker don’t even use it. I owned 2 Trd offroad tacos w the locker, and I go up in the mountains quite a few times throughout the year, and I used it like twice.
    Here’s my sport… toytec alumaseries 285/70 ko2 C , SCS SR8 17x8.5-12

Just installed my lift so I gotta show it off. I think 2019 was the last year for my color though.

I can't completely disagree with those telling you to wait for what you want but... it doesn't sound like you really need what the OR offers beyond the Sport. If you're not doing serious wheeling then it's unlikely you'll use the locker very much. Also at least for me personally, the on road driving characteristics of the Sport impress for a mid-size truck thanks to the stiffer suspension.

Lastly, you don't want to end up with Scoop envy do you?

I am digging the mountain sticker over the Tacoma badge. And did you dip your wheels or is that the vinyl blackout kit? Good looking truck.

275/70/17 KO2s on Vision Manx 2 (+12MM offset) for the Sport and the same rims but 285/70/17s on the travel trailer. I'll be putting 275s on the trailer when this stock set wears out. OME-005 (Heavy) kit and SPC UCAs. More info in build thread linked in sig.

Toyo Open County AT III's. Stock size (265/65-17 XL). They weight about the same as the highway tread Open Country's that came with the truck. I'm 28,000 miles in and they are rock solid in rain, mud, dry pavement and are really quiet. Best of all, between taking the front air dam off and installing these, I lost about 1 to 1 1/2 MPG.

Love my Sport. Has yet to let me down in the limited off-roading I've done. Toyo ATIIIs really helped.

It is way to stiff for washboard roads though... like rattle your teeth out of your head at 10mph stiff.
