Many place names here date from the late Colonial Period or from the American Revolution and immediately after.
Waynesboro, for instance, is named for the Revolutionary General "Mad Anthony" Wayne.
Greencastle is named for a place in Ireland.




This was land much fought over.
Native Americans of the eastern woodlands were relatively numerous and very warlike.
Everyone thinks of the Plains Indians when Native Americans are mentioned, but they never had a chance.
It was here that the struggle was fought out.

You're betwixt and between Greencastle and Mercersburg.
Go a few miles east or west and you'd have public utilities.

It's a wonder that Mrs Gritto and I have water and sewer here on the mountainside.
We're on the outermost fringe of Washington Township's public utilities.
There's a spring and a well on Pine Hill (walking distance from us) and a huge water tank serving the Township, so that's probably why.

They'll never run natural gas lines out here.
We have broadband though
