I just purchased a 2017 Tacoma Trd sport. The rear hubs have finger knobs on the rear hubs, that make me think it has manual lockers. From all of my research it should have automatic lockers. Are these aftermarket? And if so, what’s the proper way to use them?

    Can you provide a picture?
I am not sure if the 3rd Gen axle is like the 2nd.
But there are to “knob” looking thing on the axle.
It’s part of the axle, you can’t turn it.

Yes, just like that. I would send a pic but not trying to go outside my building right now. Is this aftermarket?

No such thing. Those are tabs for machining the axle.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Post a picture when you get a chance, if you do have locking hubs on the rear axle that would be a forum first I believe.

If so it could be a modification (expensive) for towing behind a motor home.

There are kits from some mfgs that have a full floating axle design for Toyota tacoma's and four runners . This axle design takes the weight off of the axle shafts and places it on the axle housing . Also an advantage to using a full float axle is the ability to run larger spline axles for added strength

I had a 1968 M38A1 Jeep that had Dana 44 axles . The rear Dana 44 had a full floater conversion that also had Warn " Gold " premium locking hubs

Yeah I am thinking its maybe just those tabs. Just part of the axle.

These would be locking hubs, not lockers, if they exist. Technically, there are no locking hubs (manual or automatic) on your truck stock.

Unlikely, but not impossible, that someone did a full float conversion. I've done this and am familiar. Pictures first, then we explain.
