First off I wanted to introduce myself. After years of wanting one I finally snagged a 2017 TRD sport. I'm looking to swap tires to either a 265/65r17 or moving up to a 265/70r17 both on stock wheels. I'm curious about how much my fuel mileage may suffer going to the 70's since they definitely look better? Currently I'm averaging 21mpg and am pretty happy with that.

I can tell you, stick with the stock size. You will get a fuel hit and you will question the tire size every time you fill up.

I run stock for winter and I love the small gain in MPG and power on the highway.

Unless you offroad, stick with stock. My 2c

Good to know I really don't want to kill my mileage since I drive a fair amount. I just need something that looks better than these highway tires.

These are not Prius. If you want to mod the truck perhaps you’ll have to trade off on mileage.

If you stick with a non LT tire it will help limit the mpg losses.

Thank yall for the replies. I hate asking foolish questions like this but coming from full size pickups my entire life just had to know. I can say I'm not regreting getting rid of my f-150 for a minute.

Nah man, no questions are foolish. Well, even if they are, we don’t care. You should see that shit I’ve been posting as of late. Trying to diag a problem has cost me about 2,000$ in less than a month lol.

The bigger the tire and more aggressive the tread, fuel economy will suffer.

    I like your fender flares!

Just had a set of BushWackers put on my Sport yesterday.

As for the tire question, I'm staying with the original size: 265/65R17s but do like what's out there in aggressive design.

I get roughly 19-21MPGs on my Sport.

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
I jumped to the 70s and went from 19-20 ish to 17. I drive mostly highway. I haven’t seen above 18mpg since going up a size. I have the nitto terragrapplers. I love em. I’ll take the hit in mph for tires that I believe look good and perform well off road.

Going up one size taller won't affect it much, how you drive it is what makes the biggest difference. I drive like an idiot so I'm lucky to get 20 MPG.
265/70/R17 on my Sport. I think they look just right.

This is my '17 on 35s. I'll tell you, every single modification you do is going to affect your fuel milage. I WAS getting 22mpg on the highway, and now I'm down to 14mpg on a good day. I know what I wanted to do to the truck so I don't care, just wanted to let you know. Vehicles today are going to be as efficient as they can off the lot, anything you do is going to mess with your fuel milage.

I do like the look of your tires with the 1 inch difference in height.

That's the max you can go without doing a lift & avoiding rub, correct? (I think that sounds funny!)

The BW fender flares I had installed may look better with a more aggressive tire.

We all drive like "hot dogs" sometimes...I'm taking you saying "idiot" means you're launching your truck! lol

I have the TRD exhaust and I like to listen to the engine. Sounds better as it breaks in, sounds really good hitting gears @ 4500 RPM!

You guys are cute with your 20MPG highway. They should've flipped the numbers around on the invoice sticker. I do better city than highway; currently 22 city / 16 highway, stock '21 TRDORMT6. I will never be buying aggressive tires.
