    When you receive the next clutch disk in, you need to put it side by side with one or multiple of the other clutch disks. To see what the variances are.

    From what i've seen, the performance clutch discs have more springs (5 or 6) and they're smaller. The stock style discs have four larger springs typically. I am not sure what other differences there are, but i will compare when it comes in and post up

    Not a stupid question, actually, that is exactly the plan. Aisin CKT065 clutch should be here tomorrow. Gonna throw that in with the stiffer M-Pact pressure plate. Hopefully that will hang on for a while, but i guess there's only one way to find out.

    Trying to pick a flywheel weight for the LS. Pardon my ignorance but do you know what the stock flywheel weight is for the 2TR? Or does anyone else know?

    I think the 2tr stock flywheel is around 24-25lbs. Lightweight ones are 19lbs and heavy are 30lbs for reference.

    Longer / Bigger Springs :thumbsup:
    Plus a shorter spring is stiffer…

    Pretty much the same setup on the stock style LuK clutch i ranch previously as well. I’m hopeful the stiffer pressure plate will keep this thing alive. The Aisin clutch kit is very nice quality though, comes with an NSK TOB and Koyo pilot bearing

    Oh, I forgot I ordered a Ram 22# billet steel flywheel.

    Aisin as well as LuK from what I understand. There was a TSB at one point on certain year model 5 speed trucks for the LuK clutches wearing out prematurely.

    Yes, I heard a rumor Luk was just for one year because they were having issues. Then went back to Aisin. I will have to ask my Toyota parts guy…

    Those plastic pieces at the ends of the springs. Not sure the frequency of the issue. Could be completely rare. I had to replace a clutch due to the fact that the plastic piece broke, and the spring fell out. What a racket that made. Sounded like the transmission was bad.

    The hub of the AISIN clutches, around the 2008 year model, had a design flaw. Not sure what the name is called. There are stand-offs for the hub, that when you engage the clutch, it rotates and hits those stand-offs. On the Aisins, those stand-offs (in that year model) were thin compared to the LUK and the aftermarket. The rotating mass would shear them off, if say you dumped the clutch one too many times. That could have been 10 to 20 times, then whoops. No more go.

    If you can understand what I mean, try to get a photo between the two brands, of those stand-offs between the disk and the hub.

    Spent most of the day cleaning up accessory wiring, swapping out fuse panels, and upgrading to a 12 circuit blue sea auxiliary fuse block. I don’t particularly enjoy wiring projects, but this one definitely came out nice. The old one had a hole cut out of it from where the URD SC oil reservoir used to be, so it was time for an upgrade/cleanup.
