Might be a long shot but looking to see if anyone’s had experience dealing with the VA’s community care network.

Backstory:I don’t have a local VA hospital so they sent me to specialist in the community. They decided to operate on my Achilles (service connected injury) for a the low cost of 120k. All but one of the bills were settled between the doctor and the VA. The one exception being the anesthesiologist who billed me the difference after the VA covered what they decided was fair.

Question is am I liable for that 2k or do I need to sort that out with the VA?

You should get a letter from the VA CCN that has an Explanation of Benefits. It will state if there is any Veteran Responsibility. I can't say for sure if you are responsible or not, but I doubt it. It would depend on your rating and it being service connected. Here's an example of one of mine from a follow-up office visit a month ago. It was mailed to me about 10 days after the office visit. If your EoB indicates you're not responsible, I'd call the phone number on the back of the EoB for direction on handling the anesthesiologist.

Appreciate the feedback. I’ve gotten some others from the VA like that. It’s why I was confused when I got this bill. I have the one from where the anesthesiologists didn’t file the paperwork correctly the first time. Guess I’ll have to just give ‘em a call Monday morning.
