Not worth saving it will continue to corrode, buy a take off set from a newer model.

I bought steel rims. Not pretty but I rarely have to add air. Any vehicle I had with factory aluminum rims eventually had trouble holding air. Rustbelt corrosion did them in.

If the corrosion hasn't destroyed them, yes, you can sand blast and powdercoat them. Here are the issues / facts:
    1. expect to pay $100 to $125 per wheel for a good job
    2. yes it holds up very well
    3. Make sure the blaster/coater knows that he has to coat the entire wheel inside and out. I have seen some just coated outside and that is a bad idea.
    4. He MUST tape off the hub center hole where it mates with axle hub. If you have coating in there, the wheel will not go on. If you use the lug nuts to force it on, you will not be able to remove the wheel without a jack against the frame. This is no joke.
    5. You can find used wheels pretty cheap, and unless you love the ones you have, that might be a cheaper option

I paid to do this because you can find these wheels for as little as $25 each, and they are in fact a very good wheel. They are among the strongest and the lightest options you can find. They hold up well to hard offroad use. They are easy to clean after going through mud and snow. It's a shame that Toyota cheaped out of the finished from the factory.

They are holding up great, I've had two sets powder coated now and both are doing just fine even after several tire changes etc. I paid $100 cash per wheel well worth it IMO.

You can buy used OEM wheels in perfect condition for less than refinishing yours as @badger has stated. There are plenty in the Classified section here or your friendly local CL or FB Marketplace.

Yes, I should have - and now have - noted that this is really the best option - as you noted.

I had my FJ wheels "remanufactured" by AWRS almost 3 years ago now and I'm VERY happy with my decision.

My wheels were showing the typical blistering of the clear coat from age so I decided to have the powder coating redone. They were not horrible, but I knew it was there and it was only getting worse. AWRS is a nationwide franchise and my local shop was having a sale so decided to do it and take advantage of the sale. All four wheels cost me arounf $650 if I remember correctly.

The cost is all inclusive. They dismount the tires/wheels, clean, remove the existing powder coating, make minor repairs, powder coat, diamond cut the wheel faces, clear coat, mount the tires, balance them, and mount them back on the vehicle. I dropped my truck off early Monday morning and picked it up on Wednesday.

    Here's the before and after.
