Front differential drain

    Vehicle: 1995 Tacoma V6 4WD 5-speed manual

    Yesterday I was changing the oil on my front differential for the first time and mistakenly opened a drain bolt on the passenger side of the front differential:

    I then figured out the proper drain bolt and opened it (and labeled it):

    It looked to me like the same oil came out of both holes. Does anyone know what the passenger side hole is for?

    Passenger side is the fill location.

    Nevin,
    Thanks for the response, but the fill location is actually on the front of the diff, up higher of course. Here is a not so good angle of it:

    The one I'm questioning is at about the same height as the drain on the driver's side, at the bottom of the diff.
