Made a huge difference. It was nice to finally use 5th gear for most of the grapevine.... I played with 6th here and there... Riding on 295's so it's a similar size... 4.88's are great for me with the manual tranny.. Don't have all the overland stuff to weigh me down since I wouldn't use it anyway.. One other thing... I did the tune for the manual tranny and that sealed it for me... Don't mean to be off topic but the tune helped smooth everything out and just made it that much better. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for all your responses, this is very encouraging. I have done the KD max tune as well on my truck for a few months now. It helps for local driving but not so much on uphill highway driving.

The gears are only real fix. If you are near MI the shop I used charged 750 to installed and did an awesome job and took only one full day. I'm getting tuned for my regear as well either today or tomorrow.

This may be a dumb question, but when you regear a 4x4, do you typically regear the transfer case for the front wheels as well? Or is that not an issue? I'm just imagining regearing the rear diff, but then in 4x4 having the front tires and rear tires turning at different rates even in a straight.

You have to regear front and rear diff. Tcase is just what transfers back and forth between 4 wheel and 2 wheel. Now you can regear the front and rear separately if you want, you just can't use 4x4 (you can regear rear and save up for front for a different time).

Thanks. For some reason I thought the transfer case contained the front diff on these.
